Correfoc is a booklet exploring a traditional Catalan and Valencian celebration of the same name. The text is adapted from a firsthand account of the experience.

The origins of Correfoc trace back to medieval Corpus Christi celebrations in Catalonia: performances which depicted the battle between good and evil, using devils and biblical figures as central elements. Correfoc has since evolved into a celebration of heat, fire, and noise, where participants "dance with the devil" for a night, sacrificing personal safety for cultural belonging.
