Piero is a typeface I designed, based on transitional serifs of the 19th and 20th centuries. Inspired by the utilitarian demands of high-speed, economical printing present in the industrial age, the design features reduced contrast and sturdier forms while maintaining some of the bookish quality of older serifs. The result is a versatile typeface with a softer texture in body copy compared to its historical reference points.
